Hiwet Legata Church
Hiwet Legata is an Ethiopian evangelical church that welcomes everyone from all over the world. The name of the church consists of two Ethiopian words meaning ‘Life for Christ’. The name highly symbolizes the vision of the church, which is to see Ethiopian immigrants, (individual and group) living in Lancaster and Philadelphia saved and transformed by the power of the cross. This vision was given to the lead pastor, and the main planter of the church, Pastor Redeat Abebe.
Acts 1:8 says “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth”. So this vision might start with Ethiopian immigrants and in few localities, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, it will spread to every corners of the world.
Target of the church: Home based Church for Ethiopian Immigrants
Date of establishment: Formally established on January 1, 2011. However, the vision was initiated May 2010 By Pastor Redeat D. Abebe, who then envisioned other devoted and mature Christian brothers and sisters.
